June Collie
June Collie (born 1986, Nassau, The Bahamas) is a multi-media artist renowned for her unapologetically sensual female figures. Collie finds bold colors and patterns in her work; pairing images of the body with landscape or textiles to create sumptuous compositions.
A graduate of The College of the Bahamas, Collie received her Associates Degree under the tutelage of John Cox and Sue Bennett Williams. In 2010 the artist exhibited her work for the first time in the Colour of Harmony at The College of Bahamas, where she showed drawings of skeletons from a micro point of view. The human figure continues to be central to her art practice.
In 2011, Collie exhibited 4 videos in a solo show titled Situations at New Providence Art & Antiques, Nassau. The videos follow four children on their daily journey, describing an intimate portrait of the figure in the landscape. In 2015, she completed a challenging commission for Baha Mar, covering 38 wooden stools with paintings of the female figure in her characteristic style.
Collie works out of a studio in Nassau, and supports her art career by working as a commercial photographer. She recently opened her own called SixtyTwoSixty.
