Antonius Roberts

Antonius Roberts, OBE (born 1958), is a distinguished Bahamian artist with a BFA in Painting from the Philadelphia College of Art (1981). Growing up on Lewis Street in Nassau, Bahamas, his roots profoundly influence his life's work, creatively connecting him to history and community.

In a multifaceted career, Roberts served as a teacher, lecturer, and curator, leaving an impact on young Bahamian artists through FINCO Summer Art Workshops. Known for his sculptural expertise, his Sacred Space project at Clifton Heritage site in The Bahamas garnered acclaim. Beyond borders, his art has graced exhibitions worldwide, from working in marble and granite in Italy to exhibiting a 12’ bronze sculpture in Changchun, China. His creative versatility is evident in diverse projects, including designing a park in Nassau and crafting blown-glass installations at Lynden Pindling International Airport. In 2012, Roberts restored a historic building, now Hillside House Studio & Gallery, and in 2019, he founded Project I.C.E., providing a haven for emerging artists. His dedication to Bahamian heritage, conservation, and creative expression remains the cornerstone of his impactful career.
