Heino Schmid

Heino Schmid has worked professionally as an artist for eighteen years and as a Associate Professor in the Visual Art Department of The University of The Bahamas for nine years.  His practice and pedagogy is constructed through the juxtaposition of material and narrative. Schmid’s union of this often incorporates familiar, found or repurposed objects and images that take the form of sculpture, assemblages, drawings and video. The visual narratives he’s interested in (sometimes his own, sometimes also collected) illuminate collective experiences, which highlight the subtle dramas that inform our social dynamics and ultimately bring those realities to the forefront for discussion.
