Samantha Treco
Samantha Treco (B. 1993, Nassau, Bahamas) is an interdisciplinary artist and art educator who received her Bachelor’s of Art in 2016 at The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City, NY. Treco’s practice led her to teaching art lessons at The Art Room LA and working as an in-house artist at The Green Chateau. In 2017, she moved back to The Bahamas and took up the position as Creative Arts Assistant Education Manager at The Current: Baha Mar Gallery and Art Center. Her engagement with visitors and guests to Baha Mar creates an accessible hands-on experience to artmaking.
Treco has shown with Urban Studio Unbound Gallery (US+U) at Yonkers Art Weekend, in Yonkers, NY and Gallery MC in New York City, NY. Consequently, she has shown with US+U in Art Basel Miami (2014). Treco has participated in selected group exhibitions such as Small Works Exhibition at The Current: Baha Mar Gallery and Art Center (Bahamas), Open Category of the 35th Annual Art Competition at the Central Bank of the Bahamas (where she won an Honourable Mention), Transposition in Buffalo, NY and Wavy Baby: A Night of Queer Performance and Psychedelic Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Treco’s artwork can be found in the following prominent collections: Baha Mar Collection, Dawn Davies Collection, Central Bank of the Bahamas Collection, and other private collectors.
