Sebastian Andrews
Sebastian Andrews (b. 1994, Abaco, Bahamas) is a painter inspired by the stunning seascapes of his hometown. Andrews’ practice began in high school, by the guidance of his art teacher Mr. Ajero. In January of 2012, he was able to attend an oil painting workshop in Abaco, held by oil painter Walter Bartman (Washington, D.C). This was where Andrews discovered his love for painting, which resulted in three sold pieces. Since then, Sebastian has honed his skills as a painter using mediums such as acrylic, gouache and oil. In September of 2019, Hurricane Dorian struck the Islands of Abaco & Grand Bahama, where Andrews’ artwork and supplies were destroyed and loss, except for one sketchbook. “Out with the old and in with the new,” is the phrase he used to stay motivated. With the help of friends and family, he was able to replace his supplies. Andrews relocated to Nassau, Bahamas and remains proficient in oil, acrylic, gouache, charcoal, graphite and occasionally colored pencils.
