Identity politics have gained a new kind of prominence, both digitally and in reality. Keeya's art explores identity and how it is grafted onto us and created by us. She wants to challenge the way we perceive the connection between Blackness and resilience. Mainstream narratives about Black femme's resiliency is on their capacity for and willingness to endure trauma. . This body of work celebrates resilience that is born out of and sustained by joy, care, and pleasure.
